Chicago Cutlery Walnut Tradition Review by Sukru Tikves (AZ USA)

When I read reviews about being knives of low quality I was worried. However they seem to meet my expectations so far.

I'm not a cook, but for a regular kitchen this knife set are more than enough.

Chicago Cutlery Walnut Tradition Review by Brad Reinkemeyer "Brad" (Springfield, MO USA)

I've owned these knives for several months now and cook most my meals. If I had to guess I use these knives at least once a day.

Block: Nice wood block with a metal emblem on one side.

Chef's knife: Blade(stamped metal) seems thin. The length is shorter than most which I feel makes it easier to control but I have to use the steel often to put the edge back on. And I'm a no dishwasher, nothing but wood cutting board, hand wash them one at a time care Nazi. I like the wood handles with the rough finish because I feel it adds to my grip and control but most of my friends are turned off by them.

Boning knife: Same blade material as the chef just slimmer to add some flex. Mine came with a small nick in the blade but other than that it performs tasks like cleaning a rack of lamb well enough. You will dull the hell out of it on one rack cleaning the bones.

Paring knife: About as classic of a paring knife as you can get. Nothing special here.

Steak knifes: You get 8 of them! Which is good because your plates are going to dull the heck out of them after a couple of chicken breasts so you can always reach for a spare.

Sharpening steel: While I already owned a nice steel I was glad to see they included one. Once again a very basic design that even by classic standards is outdated. Gets the job done but a quick wipe down versus my modern version lends me to believe the one included wants to remove more material in the honing process. So I gave it a pass.

All in all I'm sad to see where an American classic has gone. Functional but low quality.

This set of knives is awesome! I love that it contains the couple of knives I consider essential (chefs, utility and paring) AND a set of 8 steak knives all in a block!
